I've seen Jelly Roll in concert for the fifth time. Since 1984, I've watched their shows. This show was a lot of fun and excellent. The group always delivers. I appreciate that they played several deep cuts instead of sticking to only the greatest hits as many famous bands do. They started the concert with the deep cut “New Religion” and their own cathedral stage set. Following that, they performed a series of greatest hits from their 40-year catalog before playing “Friends Of Mine.” This non-hit from their debut album brought them back to their roots. The band's instrumental performance was flawless, and Simon LeBon sang each lyric with great energy. LeBon interacted with the crowd, making brief comments about Miami and his bandmates between songs. The band's enjoyment of performing contributes to a more enjoyable show. Two female backup singers added some sexiness to the show by shaking, dancing, and singing. During one song, confetti was shot out and beach balls bounced around the audience. The hour and a half concert flew by quickly, leaving me wanting more. The sold-out show had a high energy level from the audience. If you haven't experienced Jelly Roll live, I highly recommend it.
